Posted onVerified Derek of Lake DJ was AMAZING! We cannot express how happy we are that we chose Derek as our DJ for our special day. Not only is he a great DJ, who kept our guests dancing the entire time, but his Master of Ceremonies services were more than we could have asked for!! There was no need for our day-of coordinator to stay much longer after the ceremony because from there, Derek had it all handled! He moved us through the event timeline from cocktail hour, to dinner, through speeches, caking cutting, first dances, the bouquet toss, and exit so flawlessly. Our guests all had wonderful things to say about him! Also, my husband and I aren't big dancers and are kind of awkward when it comes to dancing, so we wanted our first dance song and parents dance song to be cut shorter. Derek made these song edits beforehand and sent them our way for approval. Also, toward the end of the night I realized that guests hadn't been taking our wedding favors that we set out. I asked Derek if he could make an announcement and he was so great and made several announcements, which made guests end up grabbing almost all our favors. He was a joy to work with and we could not recommend him more!Posted onVerified Derek, Lake DJ was an awesome DJ and MC for my daughter's wedding. He didn't miss a beat with getting the right songs on at the right times, which made the atmosphere and setting so perfect for the ceremony and after that the many transitions during the evening. He communicated with me (as wedding planner) to keep the timeline on track throughout. We were so impressed with his gift for interacting with the crowd and individuals and many guests expressed their enjoyment of him. He was even able to arrange for our special song to be played through his system, which included a singer, guitar player performance. He was reliable, great positive energy, generous with his time for phone calls prior to the event, and was a great sport as he allowed us to enlist him to pull a prank on a guest. He even pitched in and helped refill water and Champagne when he noticed glasses were low - so above an beyond. A number of our guests complimented the great job he did with our music and his personality. I give him my highest recommendation. He was awesome!Posted onVerified What can I say - if you need a DJ in the South Lake Tahoe area, Derek is your man!! My daughter was married this past weekend at Tahoe Blue Estate. Derek knew the venue, which was tricky with 3 different levels, and was a pleasure to work with. He went above and beyond, even helping to open bottles of wine at the dinner tables. He knows his music and is just a downright nice man to work with. We received so many comments from friends and family that said it was a great wedding and I know Derek helped make it that way. It was really easy to get everything set up beforehand and he was always so quick to respond via email. During the wedding day, he played all the songs we asked for and more! All of our guests complimented Derek for an excellent day! He was funny and went along with some last minute changes and gave us better ideas!Posted onVerified Derek was a fantastic DJ and we had a great experience with him from start to finish. Communicating with Derek and finalizing the booking were super easy, he was always quick to reply to any questions and provide his advice and feedback. In particular I really appreciated Derek's flexibility - we were able to book the minimum amount of time and add time as late as the day of. In fact, Derek was scheduled to play until 10:30, and at 10:15 we asked him to add another hour and play until 11:30, and he was happy to keep playing for us. Especially with planning during COVID, his flexibility was really helpful for us. On the day of, Derek was super friendly and full of energy. He did a beautiful job keeping everything on time and running smoothly while making sure everybody had a great time. He played everything we asked, and even played several requests from our guests. He was largely responsible for guiding the flow of events, and the day flowed like a dream, better than we could have imagined :) We had extra requests, including a separate playlist of songs for the cocktail hours and the dancing, having our friend and the groom's mom play and sing our song for the first dance, and having the same friend and the groom play a little surprise show of their own! We so appreciated all the extra work Derek did in getting the performances set up. He played the songs we loved and avoided the ones we didn't. He knew exactly where to start the songs we chose for walking up and down the aisle without us having to say anything. We also had a Jewish wedding with a hora and the chair lifting, and he knew just what to do and what to play! He was very flexible with our requests. When we were finally unpacking, we noticed that he made us a few mix CDs of our favorite songs! He is just so very thoughtful!! His vibe is classy but celebratory. And he just seems like a solid, nice guy. Thanks again, Derek, for helping to make our wedding part of the best weekend of our lives!!Posted onVerified Derek was great! He was a referral from a friend who got married at a different venue in Tahoe a couple months before us. He was professional, gave recommendations and advice when asked, but respected our wishes when we broke with tradition. He was lovely.Load more
